Polish American Congress Wisconsin Division

The Polish American Congress Wisconsin Division, based in Whitefish Bay, WI, is an active organizational unit dedicated to advancing Polish American interests and heritage across the state. As part of the national Polish American Congress founded in 1944, the Wisconsin Division works to unite Polish Americans in achieving the organization's core mission of supporting Poland's freedom and independence, promoting the material well-being of Polish people, and fostering civic awareness among Polish Americans. The organization coordinates with Wisconsin Polish American organizations to build knowledge and appreciation of Poland's rich cultural heritage throughout the United States. The Wisconsin Division has demonstrated significant accomplishments over seven decades, including advocacy efforts for Polish freedom during the Cold War era, substantial humanitarian fundraising initiatives that raised over $400,000 in assistance to Poland during the 1980s and early 1990s, and instrumental work in establishing a permanent Polish Studies program at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in 1978-79. The organization actively sponsors educational programs, supports cultural initiatives including the restoration of St. Josaphat Basilica and the Kosciuszko monument, and advances the Polish Center of Wisconsin and annual Polish Fest celebrations. Since 1998, the Wisconsin Division has inaugurated annual observances of Polish Independence Day and Veterans Day on November 11th, becoming the first PAC state division to initiate these historic commemorations. Through scholarships, civic awards, projects, and newsletters, the Polish American Congress Wisconsin Division continues to serve the Whitefish Bay community and Polish Americans throughout Wisconsin with dedication to preserving Polish heritage and advancing Polish American interests.
